News From Cornelio

Thanks so much to everyone that has been leaving comments on this blog. I email them to Elder Carter every week and I'm sure he appreciates the support.

Here are some clips from his latest letter...

"This last week we made dinner at an investigators house. It was sweet. Elder McBride and I made burritos. Now a burrito is a Mexican thing. Burritos have nothing to do with Brazil. We cut up the tomatoes, the onions, olives, made the beans, guacamole, and the ground beef. It was way good and they loved it."

"Another story: Last p-day, after we used the internet, we went home to get our money. I accidentally left the keys in the house. But to lock our house we don't use the lock in the door but we use a pad-lock. We always have to unlock our front gate outside of our house which is also a pad-lock. Did you follow that? So I locked the pad-locks on the house door but we didn't have the keys to unlock the gate or to go back into the house. So we were stuck in the middle. Our gate is about 10 feet high, too. It was funny. So we hopped the gate and found a locksmith who came and picked the locks for us."

"So last sunday something crazy happened. Our chapel is small but it has 2 stories. The Sacrament room is on the 2nd story. So during sacrament meeting no one is downstairs. It just so happens that our church is across the street from the main homeless people hangout spot. Keep in mind that every homeless person in Brazil is an alcoholic. So during sac meeting we heard a lot of noise. So the Bishop went downstairs to see what it was. He never ended up returning to Sac meeting. I found out after that some drunk had tried to break in to the library (were we keep the manuals, books, television, and dvd player). He broke the little glass window to try and get in. All this time my greenie is thinking, 'Does stuff like this happen all the time in Brazil?'"

It sounds like he's having a great time! I asked him to send me some pics so we could give everyone an update. Here are the pics he sent. Enjoy!
