Elder Carter and his companion have been teaching a lady they met last week. She has shown a great interest in the Gospel and has been searching for something new in her life. He was a little frustrated, however, because she didn't come to church on Sunday. Having served a mission myself, I understand how frustrating this can be. You are devoting every second to sharing an important message with others and to see it not being perceived as "urgent" with your investigators leaves you feeling down in the dumps. Hang in there, Ty!
Elder Carter also says the Ward is still stying to adjust to the new Bishopric; or, rather, the Bishopric is still trying to adjust to their new callings. He says everything is going alright, yet there is a huge desire on his part to stregthen the existing members.
Elder Carter goes on to say:
"It makes me so homesick when I hear about people going rafting and visiting the River House and junk like that. But dont stop telling me stuff like that. I like painting the picture in my mind of what the house is like. These stories just help me add to that vision. It's weird how everyone knows my house but me..."
I know Elder Carter would appreciate any letters or words of encouragement! He is a fantastic missionary and I think that's evident in the fact that he gets so discouraged by the stumbling blocks that come with his calling. He really cares about the work he's doing and truly understands the urgency to spread such an incredible message.
We love you, Elder Carter!
P.S. I got this email from Elder Carter today . . .
"This is our mission website. It's in Portuguese but it has some pics of Elders from our mission. They update it every week."
