This week was way awesome. Along with general conference we had a lot of
cool stuff happen:
1: We finished teaching Antonio the lessons and he's going to be baptized this saturday!! He's got a really big desire to be baptized and follow this church. He was a friend of a member. Missionary work is based on the members. When the members help, things happen. When they dont help, things still happen, just not as easily.
2: We are teaching this guy named John. He was released from prison about a month ago. His mom is a member of our church and I feel really good in her presence. She's a little old lady but she's got such a sweet spirit. But John is the best investigator anyone can ever ask for. When we invite him to go to church with us he goes every week. He reads whatever he mark for him in the Book of Mormon. He does
everything and he understands really well. We taught a really spiritual lesson to him about the atonement and tied it into repentance and baptism. I felt the spirit really really strong. That also is what missioary work is about. With the spirit
everything happens. Unfortunately he didn't accept the invitation to be baptized.
but he will some day. We're not gonna give up on him. He has a lot of negative thoughts; such as his forgiveness of his passed errors are out of the question and that repentance is a really serious thing. But he's progressing a lot. We will continue to help him out.
3: Things will Elder Rebelo have really improved. He's teaching better and is getting rid of his fear to talk with people. I realized this week that I really need his help and I explained that to him. We've been working more with the spirit than trying to rely on our own strength and knowledge.
4: This week I also realized that I made a lot of cool friends on my mission. Some elders here are close friends of mine. But i often think about if I'll even see them after my mission or after the mission if they'll even be close friends. But I certainly have a lot of people that I would love to keep in touch with.
I'm having a great time on my mission. Daily experiences - spiritual and funny. You really need both sides of it to have the best experience out here. I love the people of Brasil and the people I serve and that I serve with. I know that the work I'm doing is sacred and that I only have this chance to do it. I'm glad I'm a representative of the only true church in the world.
